Student Exchange Atlanta – Berlin 2026

As part of the transatlantic exchange programme FashionX:Change, students from the Sustainable Fashion Design and Management programme travelled with Prof. Marte Hentschel to Atlanta – and welcomed American students in Berlin.

The programme connects BSP Berlin, Clark Atlanta University and the University of Georgia. Over two semesters, international student teams developed circular fashion concepts and a joint photo and video project connecting historical contexts – the Civil Rights Movement and German Reunification – with the questions of sustainable fashion today.

"The more narrow-minded our world becomes, the more we should embrace difference and education. FashionX:Change uses fashion not as an instrument of rejection, but as a beautiful tool to gather like-minded souls." sais Philippe Pourhashemi, Fashion Journalist & Curator and Lecturer FashionX:Change

Highlights included presentations at Berlin Fashion Week and Atlanta Sustainable Fashion Week. Museum visits, workshops with industry experts and the direct exchange with students from a completely different cultural context made the programme a defining learning experience.

"I connected with like-minded individuals across borders, learned about their cultural experiences, and broadened my understanding of international spaces in the fashion industry." said Micah Stephenson, Student at Clark Atlanta University and participant of FashionX:Change

FashionX:Change is funded by Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta / Kultur Ensemble Atlanta and the Halle Foundation, implemented by the Circularity Council and led by Prof. Marte Hentschel.
